Healing And Empowerment – An EFT Workshop at Anandi Healing Center, Bhilwara, Rajasthan

Vishakha- is that which is undivided, without branches and symbolizes wholeness and commitment. Vishakha, the organisation, has its roots in the women's movement of Rajasthan. Their endeavour is to work towards empowerment of self and communities, ending violence against women and making systems accountable through rights-based intervention in education, health and violence against women. Parallelly, they have created spaces for creative self expression and development of self. Vishaka’s work is described on http://www.vishakhawe.org

Anandi Healing Center is a healing center set up as part of Vishaka. Anandi is one of the very few healing centers set up by an NGO as a natural learning from their grassroots work.  They work extensively with adults and children using techniques borrowed from several spiritual traditions. During our trip we also had an opportunity to learn some of the techniques they use with children and visit a school the Anandi center works with.  Another core compoment of Vishaka’s work has been the Mahila Salah Evam Suraksha Kendra  - a joint effort of women’s groups facilitated by Vishaka and the Rajasthan Police . These centers are holistic redressal centers offering many services including counseling to women undergoing violence. The Anandi Healing center has been set up at Bhilwara to offer deeper healing and empowerment to women and all those involved in this work.

The EFT workshop facilitated in Hindi and English included an introduction to EFT and some of the approaches/techniques. We explored the EFT tapping points, constricted breathing technique, movie technique, mental images and the need to cleansing ourselves of mental images we store about others. The importance of healing/self cleansing from negative emotions was introduced. We did a lot of group tapping ensuring that the participants could experience a shift in their emotions about issues they chose to work on.  Participants included healers and counselors working at the Mahila Kendras. As the workshop continued topics such as mental images we store about ourselves/others, anger, forgiveness and compassionate action were also explored in an introductory manner. This 3 day workshop which included both group tapping as well as private healing sessions. The workshop also briefly covered working with children. This being an  introductory workshop – we hope the participants will send us more questions and feedback as they continue to explore/practice.
